For many of our carers this is the first step towards a very rewarding and happy time for a dog that will be in your care.
‘Home from Home’ was established in 1996 and is the largest dog boarding agency of its kind in the Greater London area. ‘Home from Home’ offers a dog owner an alternative to kennels. People who use our service are not prepared to put their dogs into kennels and are looking to board their dog in a safe, clean caring family home, whilst they are away.
We pride ourselves on the service we offer and have an excellent reputation with vets, grooming parlours and pet shops alike. Most of our clients contact us by referral from existing clients.
You will be expected to feed, walk and care for the dogs as indicated by the owner. The booking form that the owner fills in (and is passed onto you) gives lots of info about the dog’s temperament and habits. You will get to meet the dog before it arrives to ensure that you are happy about accepting it for the stay.
You will be able to specify what breeds of dogs fit in with your lifestyle best. We are very flexible and will be happy for you to take just an occasional dog or we can try to fit in as many as possible if you prefer. Our carers have regular dogs that they care for time and time again. This is not regular work, some of our bookings are just for weekends and others can be for over a month at a time. This is also seasonal work and we are much busier in the summer months.
Dogs that are placed by ‘Home from Home’ are housetrained and non-aggressive, we only accept large dogs that have a calm, placid nature and are well behaved. We do not generally take in puppies, but you can state if you are happy to do so. A fee of £9.00 per day and £6.00 for a 2nd dog will be paid to you for each day a dog is in residence. Dog food and other essential items are supplied by the dog’s owners. All dogs are fully insured while boarded by ‘Home from Home’.
We provide a back up service so that should any problems incur you can contact us at any time. If you feel that you can not cope with a particular dog – we will collect it and move it elsewhere.
